Spirit Vessel Workshop
January 10 and 17, 2026
Studio Emaho!
Soquel, CA
I’m excited to offer a workshop in my Spirit Vessel process. I’ve been making these soulful clay vessels for over ten years, and each one has been an invitation into a quiet, inward conversation. Clay has a way of slowing us down and bringing us back into our hands. It invites play, attention, and listening. Most of us don’t get nearly enough of that.
Join me and a small circle of curious spirits for two full Saturdays of clay and quiet discovery. Together, we’ll explore the expressive qualities of clay and the surprising ways it can carry intention, feeling, and the whispers of your inner voice.
Each day begins at 10 am with space to ground, breathe, and listen inward. From there, we’ll move between hands-on clay work, guided reflection, and moments of silence that allow meaning to emerge naturally. You’ll learn to shape your own vessel form, creating a personal container for what you are tending or calling in during this season of your life. Along the way, we’ll experiment with scraps, sketchbooks, and side projects that remind us of a simple truth: what we pay attention to grows.
There will be time for sharing, time for snacks and tea, and time to simply follow the rhythm of making. You’ll bring your own lunch, and I’ll provide light vegetarian snacks and hydrating drinks.
On the second Saturday, we’ll return to our vessels to decorate and deepen them, again guided by meditation, journal prompts, and the quiet conversation between hands, clay, and spirit. After the workshop, the vessels will be kiln-fired to complete the process. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup about a week later, allowing you to return for a tangible reminder of the journey you began.
This is an intimate offering, limited to five participants, with a minimum of three for the workshop to run. The workshop is offered on a sliding scale of $250–$350.
To register, click the link below and email me to let me know you’d like to join and where you fall on the sliding scale. I’ll follow up with payment details and everything you’ll need to prepare for our time together in the studio.
This workshop is for you if…
This workshop is for you if you’re craving time and space to slow down and listen beneath the surface of your everyday life. If you feel drawn to making something meaningful with your hands rather than talking your way to insight, you’ll feel at home here.
It’s for you if you’re comfortable with open-ended process and curious about what might emerge when you give yourself sustained attention. You don’t need clay experience, artistic confidence, or a clear outcome in mind. You do need a willingness to be present, to experiment, and to let the work unfold in its own time.
This workshop may not be a good fit if you’re looking for a technique-focused ceramics class, step-by-step instruction, or a fast, finished product. Spirit Vessels are about depth, not efficiency, and meaning grows here through patience and participation.
Cost is sliding scale: $250-$350. Register below.
“I was totally smitten by the Spirit Vessel Workshop! Tese masterfully taught us all the clay techniques necessary to build our very own Spirit Vessel. During the first week she had the clay slabs prepared ahead of time and showed us how to create the vessel and then make it our own using a treasure chest of stamps and imprints. We then said goodbye to our spirit vessels for the week while Tese fired them in the kiln.
Before each class, Tese led us on a Vision Quest meditation that brought us into a deeper awareness and stillness where we could access our imaginations and let our creative spirits soar.
I would love to return and make another Spirit Vessel! I appreciated the safe and welcoming STUDIO EMAHO that inspired creativity and the gentle kindness and encouragement from Tese. I learned a great deal about myself in this process, and I love my Spirit Vessel!”
